Devon Featured In Most Popular UK Holiday Hotspots

Can’t decide where to go on holiday this year? May we suggest a little trip along the south coast in that case? A new study has just placed Devon in fifth place in a rundown of the most popular UK holiday hotspots so perhaps it’s time you came down here to see us!

The Direct Line Travel Insurance study revealed that 48 per cent of Brits are actually planning on enjoying a staycation in the next 12 months, with London, Cornwall, the Scottish Highlands, the Lake District and Devon among the most popular choices for holidaymakers.

Others on the list included Edinburgh, Dorset, the Peak District, the Isle of Wight and the Cotswolds – perfect if you’re stuck for inspiration about where to go away this year.

“Staycation breaks look set to boom, as British holidaymakers are keen to experience the wonders of the UK instead of jetting off aboard. With its array of fantastic beaches, adventure pursuits and city attractions, it’s no surprise that people are looking to holiday closer to home,” head of travel insurance at Direct Line Tom Bishop said.

So what’s on in Devon this August if you are coming to this beautiful part of the world? In South Devon, there’s the Salcombe Regatta on until the 6th, the Torbay Steam Fair between the 5th and 7th, and DarkMoor between the 20th and the 21st where you can go on a ten-mile hike and follow in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes while raising money for charity. Just do some research to see what’s going on over your holiday dates – you won’t be disappointed.
